How Beginners Can Start Meditation Yoga | 5 Effective Techniques

There are various types that a beginner can follow to start with meditation yoga. The ultimate goal is to disconnect from the outer world, to reconnect with your self capabilities. Further are the 5 effective techniques that a beginner can easily follow to start with meditation yoga.

1. Breathing Meditation: Pranayama

Breathing awareness is one of the easiest yet effective ways to distract your mind from outside distractions. When a human entirely focuses on his/her breathing patterns while forming yoga poses, they gets to live their moment and dive into divinity smoothly.

Popular Breath Awareness Techniques are:

  • Deep Belly breathing
  • Ujjayi Breathing
  • Alternate Nostril Breathing (Om-Vilom)
  • Lengthen Exhale Breathing
  • Equal Breathing

This keeps your lung health in check, reduces your anxiety, and helps you onboard your spiritual journey deeply.

Pro Tip: I perform Om Chant Breathing in which I first take a deep breath, and then chant ‘OM’ while exhaling my breath. This works magically for me, especially when practised in the morning. I also use meditation apps like Calm, Smiling Mind, and Headspace for better focus and deep meditation yoga.

2. Mindful Yoga

Meditation Yoga For Beginners

Next, we have is Mindful Yoga. Mindful Yoga is best for beginners striving to learn meditation yoga to increase their concentration levels. Here, the body and mind senses must be conscious throughout the yoga, focusing on breathing patterns, alignment, and body posture. This improves the mind-body connection.

3. Chanting Meditation

Since the ages, OM is considered to be a powerful mantra that reconnects your body, mind, & soul together, taking you on a spiritual journey. You can chant OM while doing yoga or silently sitting. This is peaceful, powerful, & divine in every literal and spiritual sense.

4. Guided Meditation

There are many ways to perform guided meditation. It can be done in a ‘savasana’ or ‘seated’ meditation pose. Here, a human either listens to a guided meditation or chants the mantra during meditation; aiming for deeper relaxation, mind clarity, and divine spiritual connection. A performer can also listen to meditation music for better concentration.

5. Silent Sitting Meditation: Zazen

Lastly, I have Silent Sitting Meditation, also known as Zazen. Humans are so equipped with speaking out loud that we often undervalue the power of silent sitting meditation. It is advised that every human should sit silently for 5-7 minutes daily for a clearer mind, focused actions, and solving the confusion. This is an effective solution to encounter your thoughts and know your path.

Meditation Yoga is a blend of mindful thinking and yoga poses; that promotes a mind-to-body connection on a deeper level. Some of the powerful meditation yoga techniques for beginners are pranayama, mindful yoga, chanting meditation, guided meditation, & silent sitting.
